SUMMARY/PRIME OBJECTIVES
Provide effective support to the Electrical Department by way of producing accurate and competitive electrical estimates from either a fully designed set of drawings and specifications or outline Client brief, ensuring design proposals meet current BS7671, BS5839, BS5266 standards and meet CIBSE guidelines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Production of accurate and competitive electrical estimates from either a fully designed set of drawings and specifications or outline Client brief.
• Organising workload to ensure timely submission of all Tenders
• Attend site visits as part of the tendering process to evaluate, assess, take measurements etc
• Ensuring designs are undertaken to meet current BS7671, BS5839, BS5266 standards in conjunction with other engineers
• Ensuring design proposals meet current CIBSE guidelines in conjunction with other engineers
• To keep abreast of latest developments in standards and working methods to enable most competitive bids to be made
• Develop bid assumptions and terms and conditions associated with each bid
• Sourcing and evaluating competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
• Ensure compliance with all statutory and Company procedures
• Develop and present comprehensive cost reports and proposals documents
• Understand and meet business requirements and provide support where required
• Develop effective working relationships with customers, partners and suppliers
• Clear understanding of the Company vision and objective, implementing directives from senior management
• Follow-up calls on all submitted tenders and subsequent evaluation
• Preparation of Tender evaluation schedules
• Meet pre-determined targets
• Source enquiries/leads in the absence of any sales leads
• Any other duties within the scope and capabilities of the role to ensure the conscientious discharge of works
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
• Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
• Good organisational, technical and communication skills, with the ability to work on their own initiative and also as part of a team
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Sound English and Maths, GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Competent in the production of design schematics and drawings.
• Able to prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressured environment
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and cope under pressure
PREFERRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL
• Time Served Electrician
• City & Guilds 236 parts 1 & 2
• HNC in electrical building services/engineering or working towards it
• Good working knowledge of Dialux lighting software
• City & Guilds 2400 Design and verification
• Good working knowledge of Amtech or Hevacomp cable calculation software
