The challenge

Working to a tight operational programme

As an active ambulance station, the building needed to be fully refurbished within a strict timeframe while staff temporarily operated from another location.

With frontline services relying on the station reopening on time, maintaining programme deadlines was critical throughout the project.

Alongside the tight programme, the project team also managed ongoing client design changes during delivery, requiring close coordination across multiple trades and disciplines.

Our Approach

Coordinated delivery across multiple specialist teams

Tremorfa’s mechanical, electrical, fire and security teams worked closely together throughout the refurbishment programme.

The project included a complete upgrade of the building’s core systems and staff facilities, helping transform the station into a more modern, practical and comfortable environment for ambulance crews.

Strong project management and daily coordination ensured works remained aligned with programme requirements while adapting to evolving project needs.

The outcome

A better environment for frontline NHS staff

The completed refurbishment has created a brighter, more functional and more comfortable ambulance station for staff working long frontline shifts.

Upgraded lighting, improved welfare facilities, new showers and modernised breakout spaces have helped improve the day-to-day working environment across the station.

By delivering the refurbishment within the required programme, the project enabled the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust to return staff to an upgraded facility with minimal disruption.
